The victim was taken to hospital but passed away yesterday afternoon. The driver of the road sweeper, a 39-year-old man, was not injured in the collision, which took place on Cleggs Lane at around 8.16am. Greater Manchester Police said no arrests have been made while investigations continue. The force said it is now appealing for further information and witnesses. Local residents reported the road being blocked off amid a heavy police presence for most of Tuesday.
