Paedophile suspect kills himself during dramatic police raid of his home in the Blue Mountains

Published: 01:00, 11 August 2026 | Updated: 01:23, 11 August 2026 A suspected paedophile has killed himself as NSW Police officers raided his home.  Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad were investigating the man over the alleged possession of child abuse material when they arrived at his Grose St address in Leura just after 7am to execute a search warrant.  Police said the 41-year-old man committed self-harm while they were inside the property. In a statement to media, NSW Police said officers located the man inside a bedroom with a knife.  'As officers entered the room, the man stabbed himself,' the statement said. 'Police immediately rendered first aid and sought assistance from NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, the man died at the scene.' A critical incident team from Mt Druitt Police Area Command will now lead an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
