By KYLIE STEVENS, SENIOR BREAKING NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 03:38, 14 July 2026 | Updated: 03:52, 14 July 2026 One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts has come under fire over resurfaced footage of his support for a controversial US conspiracy theorist. Roberts' appearance on The Alex Jones Show almost two years ago has re-emerged in the wake of recent comments that he 'won't rule out' the possibility that the Bondi Beach terror attack last December was a 'false-flag operation'. Roberts also sparked widespread outrage for claiming that the US government has been hijacked by 'globalist parasites', labelling it as 'the world's greatest terrorist organisation'. A right-wing radio host and conspiracy theorist, Jones has long claimed that the September 11 attacks were an 'inside job' orchestrated by the US government. The shock jock has also falsely claimed the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre which claimed 26 lives, including 20 children was a staged 'false flag' operation. Roberts appeared on Jones' now-defunct program InfoWars in October 2024 for a wide-ranging interview covering Covid, climate change and politics. The video resurfaced as Opposition Leader Angus Taylor doubled down on his attack of One Nation and their growing popularity, referencing Roberts' recent remarks and support for Jones. 'This is not what you do if you want to govern the country,' he told 2GB host Ben Fordham on Tuesday. Malcolm Roberts' (right) appearance on the podcast of controversial US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones (left) has resurfaced The One Nation senator (pictured with party leader Pauline Hanson) recently sparked widespread outrage for claiming that the US government has been hijacked by 'globalist parasites', labelling it as 'the world's greatest terrorist organisation' 'They do not have a plan for the future of this country. They are a one-person show. They don't have the team.' In the 2024 video, Roberts shared glowing praise for the controversial conspiracy theorist, urging Jones to keep on doing what he was doing. 'You've been fighting a lone battle until fairly recently, and now people recognise that your credibility is very, very high. So, thank you so much for what you're doing,' Roberts told Jones. 'But essentially, what's happening is your country, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, all descendants from the British Commonwealth, are all ruled by a red and a blue team, what I call the UniParty, and they're all the same. 'They're pushing the same basic policies. It's driven by these internationalists, these globalists, these unelected parasites who are fronts for big corporations, who are fronts for a few people that own them and control them.' He later hailed Jones as 'a beacon of hope around the world'. 'Thanks to you, Alex, because you have been under the pump for years and years and years, and you've been saying the same thing, and now there are many people around the world waking up. So thank you, and keep going.' Roberts has since defended his appearance on the program but conceded he hadn't done enough research on 9/11 or the Sandy Hook massacre to comment further. Malcolm Roberts 'won't rule out' the possibility that the Bondi Beach terror attack last December was a 'false-flag operation'. Pictured are mourners at Bondi One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts (pictured) stands by his support for controversial US conspiracy theorist Alex Jones 'Yes, some of Alex's views are contentious. That is not a criteria for assessing a topic he or anyone else raises or questions. Instead, I rely on hard data,' the senator told the Sydney Morning Herald. 'I am proud to have been a guest on Alex Jones's show. He invites people capable of researching and thinking for ourselves and capable of questioning the mainstream narrative.' The transcript from the program remains on Roberts' website. Daily Mail has contacted One Nation for further comment. In May, Roberts said that he 'won't rule out' the possibility that the Bondi Beach terror attack was a false-flag operation while conceding he does not have the facts to back such a claim. 'If I make a statement, it's got to be backed by fact, and I don't have the facts yet,' Roberts told social media comedian Lisa Jane Spencer in a YouTube video. 'I'm not ruling it out. I doubt whether there was a false flag, but it was a bit afterwards when the laws came out.' Fifteen people - including a 10-year-old girl - were killed and 40 others wounded when father-and-son Sajid and Naveed Akram allegedly opened fire on families gathering for Chanukah by the Sea, a public Jewish celebration on December 14. Roberts suggested that governments have historically used crises to justify new legislation. 'There are so many things in the last 30 years, but especially with Covid, that they seem to arrange something and then the laws would come,' he said. 'I can acknowledge that point.' Days later, Roberts again refused to rule out the false flag theory while attending a press conference alongside One Nation leader Pauline Hanson. 'First of all, it's an absurd proposition,' Roberts said. 'Second thing is that I reinforce the fact that I make decisions and statements based on data, and I don't have data.' Hanson interrupted: 'I will answer, because I've had this discussion with Senator Roberts. There is no false flag.'
