The Oklahoma Sooners have made the NCAA Tournament just once in the Porter Moser era. Even that trip to the March Madness tournament was not all that much to write home about, though. The Sooners made it in 2024-25 but lost in the first round to UConn. Moser has been the head coach at Oklahoma since 2021-22, so there's a chance he may not make it another season if he can't get the Sooners back to the dance in 2026. Getting roster construction for next season right is crucial, then, and the Sooners just picked up a big win in that regard via the transfer portal. Texas A&M transfer guard Pop Isaacs committed to the Sooners on Wednesday. Isaacs is a 6-foot-2 soon-to-be redshirt senior who has been an incredibly effective scorer during his college career. NEWS: Texas A&M transfer guard Pop Isaacs has committed to Oklahoma, source told @On3.The 6-2 redshirt junior has scored nearly 1,300 career points in college. He averaged 9.8 PPG while shooting nearly 40% from three this season for the Aggies, after putting up roughly 16 PPG… pic.twitter.com/ymOiReS34P A former four-star recruit out of Henderson, Nevada, Isaacs started his college career at Texas Tech. He averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game as a freshman and was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team. His points per game average went up to 15.8 as a sophomore and then he transferred to Creighton for what should have been his junior season. Isaacs suffered a season-ending injury just eight games into the 2024-25 season, so his time at Creighton never really got off the ground. In those eight games, though, he did average 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He transferred to Texas A&M for 2025-26 and was largely a bench player, but he still averaged 9.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game in 22 minutes a night. He shot a career-best 39.6% from deep. Isaacs is the third addition for Oklahoma in the portal, as he joins Utah Valley guard Tyler Hendricks and Louisville forward Khani Rooths as new additions for the Sooners. 247Sports ranks Isaacs as the No. 25 point guard in the portal.
