Aston Villa have officially announced their signing of Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki on a permanent transfer from Serie A side Parma, following the breakdown in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.
Official: Suzuki joins Aston Villa from Parma
Villa have agreed to pay a total package of €35m for the 23-year-old shot stopper and according to reports in Italy, he has signed a five-year contract that will see him through until the summer of 2031.
Suzuki had been on the verge of joining PSG earlier this window, and had that happened, there were reports that he could then be sent out on loan to Juventus for the 2026-27 season, but this move collapsed at the last minute following last-minute requests from the player’s agents.
Suzuki has spent the last two seasons in Serie A and has made 57 appearances in the Italian top flight with Parma over that period. He has previously had stints in Belgium with Sint-Triuden and in Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds.

“The Japanese international, who represented his country at the FIFA World Cup 2026, joins on a permanent transfer.
“Born in the USA, the goalkeeper grew up in Urawa in Japan, making his debut for the Urawa Red Diamonds at the age of 18. Following a short stint in Belgium with Sint-Truiden, he has spent the past two seasons with Parma in Italy’s Serie A.
“One of the game’s brightest prospects in his position, Suzuki has been capped 22 times at senior level by the Samurai Blue.
