The latest reports claim that Christopher Nkunku could have his medical with RB Leipzig on Tuesday as Milan have sanctioned his departure in a deal that could see the Rossoneri recoup up to €32m.
Report: Nkunku could have RB Leipzig medical on Tuesday
On Sunday, it was reported that Milan and RB Leipzig had reached an agreement over the price and the structure of a deal for Nkunku, who spent four successful years with the Bundesliga club between 2019 and 2023.
There have been some conflicting reports on the precise transfer fee: Sky Sport Italia and Gianluca Di Marzio claim that the Frenchman will join Leipzig on a season-long loan deal at a cost of €4m with a future option to buy for an additional €28m. Other outlets claim that the loan fee will be slightly lower and the buy option slightly higher for a total package in excess of €30m.
Discussions regarding the division of the player’s salary, reported to be around €5m net per season, continued on Sunday and Monday, and according to the latest updates, Milan have now ‘given the green light’ for Nkunku to travel for his medical, which could take place as early as Tuesday.
Nkunku has only been with Milan for one season after joining from Chelsea at a cost of €37m plus bonuses.
He went on to provide seven goals and three assists from 32 appearances in Serie A in 2025-26 under Massimiliano Allegri, who was given his marching orders the day after the season came to an end.
Allegri has since been replaced by Ruben Amorim in the San Siro dugout and the Portuguese has decided that Nkunku, along with Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and Santiago Gimenez will not be part of his plans for the coming season.
Those four players have not been given squad numbers for the 2026-27 campaign and were not involved as Milan recorded a 2-1 victory away against Torino on Sunday evening.
