Published: 00:10, 11 June 2026 | Updated: 00:10, 11 June 2026 A coroner has questioned the credibility of Annastacia Palaszczuk's surgeon partner after one of his patients died from surgery complications. Dr Reza Adib, 65, is on strict bail while facing six charges over an alleged sex attack on a woman aged in her 30s on March 30.  Police allege Adib assaulted the woman inside his Burleigh Heads beachfront apartment where he and Ms Palaszczuk lived during their five-year relationship. Adib was a laparoscopic, gastrointestinal and obesity surgeon at The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane. He was suspended from practising following his arrest on May 1.  In the latest blow to rock the embattled surgeon, Adib's credibility has been slammed by a coroner investigating the death of one of his patients.  The findings into the death of Gold Coast woman Rosemarie Campbell were published on Tuesday. Ms Campbell died in February 2022 at her home following complications after a gastric bypass operation performed by Adib only three days prior. The inquest heard Ms Campbell began complaining of nausea the evening after her surgery and was discharged the following day despite vomiting several times. A coroner has questioned the credibility of Annastacia Palaszczuk's surgeon boyfriend after a patient died from surgery complications (Dr Reza Adib is pictured centre) Gold Coast woman Rosemarie Campbell (pictured) died in February 2022 at her home following complications after a gastric bypass operation performed by Adib Annastacia Palaszczuk and partner Reza Adib have not been seen together since he was charged with rape and sexual assault of a woman in her 30s  The hearing, held over two days in August 2025, was told Ms Campbell had a herniation and perforated bowel, which in hospital are not normally fatal and are usually fixed through corrective surgery.  She died from surgery complications and acute bacterial peritonitis and pneumonia. Deputy State Coroner Stephanie Gallagher said Ms Campbell likely would have survived if she'd not been discharged from hospital and rejected Adib's submissions that he didn't need to investigate further about her vomiting. 'Dr Adib should have asked more questions, especially about the volume of vomiting,' Ms Gallagher said. She also found Adib's 'credibility was seriously undermined' after he used false statements to encourage Ms Campbell's GP to support the surgery. The court heard Adib wrote a letter supporting her early access to superannuation to fund the surgery, based on a template. 'It is plain that he intended for Ms Campbell's application to be successful, and it follows that he wrote a letter that contained false statements for that purpose,' Ms Gallagher said. 'His explanation for doing that, when surely he must have known that he ought not, was that it was his patient's choice. The findings come weeks after Adib was charged with three counts of rape, two of deprivation of liberty, and one count of sexual assault contact of genitalia/anus with mouth The coroner found Adib's 'credibility was seriously undermined' after he used false statements 'In any event, it was an egregious breach of his responsibilities as a medical practitioner to have signed such a letter.'  She added: 'It reflects very poorly on his credit generally and re-enforces the unreliability of his contemporaneous records.' Ms Gallagher also found Adib had attempted to mislead her investigation by engaging 'in deliberate and substantial exaggeration about the quality and intensity of the pre-operative care' he provided to Ms Campbell. 'It reflects a disturbing tendency to exaggerating matters pertaining to his surgical service, tending to further raise concern about what advice he gave Ms Campbell,' she said. The findings come weeks after Adib was charged with three counts of rape, two of deprivation of liberty, and one count of sexual assault contact of genitalia/anus with mouth. The Daily Mail previously revealed that Adib's alleged victim is almost half his age and also works in the medical industry. His arrest prompted Palaszczuk to cancel her book tour promoting her new memoir, The Politics of Being Me, with sources telling the Daily Mail the former Queensland premier is now 're-evaluating the relationship'. Adib's case returns to Southport Magistrates Court on July 7.  His registration suspension will remain in place until it is overturned by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal or revoked by the Health Ombudsman.
