Nebraska pushing to make $600 million in upgrades to Memorial Stadium by 2028

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska plans to overhaul its 103-year-old football venue, Memorial Stadium, at a cost of at least $600 million in time for the 2028 season.The school released plans Friday in advance of an April 24 meeting of the university’s Board of Regents, at which time the proposal could be approved. Branded as the “Big Red Rebuild,” the project — tabled in 2024 after an initial plan was submitted by former athletic director Trev Alberts in 2023 — would dramatically elevate the fan experience, according to Nebraska officials, and position Nebraska to use the stadium more efficiently for year-round events.Advertisement
