A murder investigation has been launched after a 52-year-old woman was killed during a mass stabbing in Shepherd’s Bush.
Police were called to Askew Road shortly after 8.30am this morning, where officers found two women suffering from stab wounds.
The 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, with her family informed, and are being supported by specialist officers.
A second woman, aged 32, was taken to hospital, where her injuries are being assessed.
A 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
He was also taken to hospital as a precaution before being discharged into police custody.
Askew Road was closed for several hours as officers carried out their investigation, with neighbours reporting a large emergency services presence in the area.
Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the investigation, said enquiries were continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Our enquiries continue at pace as we work to establish the full circumstances of this deeply tragic incident,” he said.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim and injured woman."
Police said they believe the incident was isolated and took place inside a residential address.
Officers remained in the area throughout the day as the investigation continues.
