Morocco’s Zakaria El Ouahdi Leads Genk to Victory with Goal and Assist
Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi delivered a complete performance, scoring and assisting in KRC Genk’s victory over KVC Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League yesterday at Westerlo, confirming his growing influence this season.
Playing from his usual right side, El Ouahdi was involved in everything. He broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, finishing a well-worked move initiated by Junya Ito. Just three minutes later, he turned provider setting up Aaron Bibout with a perfectly timed pass to make it 2-0.
Westerlo did respond through Afonso Patrao in the 76th minute, but it was too late to change the outcome.
His numbers say it all: a match rating of 8.4/10, 86.7% passing accuracy (26/30), two key passes, and one shot on target from two attempts.

From his right-back role, he was constantly involved pushing forward, creating chances, and making the difference when it mattered most.
Thanks to this win, KRC Genk moved to the top of the Europe Playoffs standings, reinforcing their ambitions at the end of the season.
It’s the kind of performance that sums up his season as a defender and a constant attacking threat.
At 24, El Ouahdi is enjoying one of the best campaigns of his career, with strong numbers in the Belgian Pro League already contributing multiple goals and assists from a defensive role.
He is also very consistent. Game after game, he brings energy, forward runs, and the ability to make a difference in the final third. For a full-back, those contributions are becoming a real weapon for Genk.
From a Moroccan perspective, it’s another positive sign. Performances like this don’t go unnoticed, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching and places in the national team becoming more competitive. If this level continues, he could be a solid option.
