By ELIZABETH HAIGH, SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 12:21, 8 July 2026 | Updated: 12:22, 8 July 2026 A man with road-rage was caught on camera calling a cyclist a 'freak' before kicking his bike over, with police now seeking to arrest the driver. Tony Envoldsen-Harris, 47, was cycling in Grays, Essex, when he was dangerously overtaken by Adam Fry, 36, who was driving a Volkswagen Golf. Bikecam footage showed the driver accelerating past Mr Envoldsen-Harris through a pinch point on the road, as the shocked cyclist exclaims: 'Woah! What are you doing?' The driver then responds: 'Get out of the middle of the road, you freak.' The quick-thinking cyclist then reads out the driver's numberplate in the phonetic alphabet for his recording - which angers the driver. He gets out of his car, shouting 'What did you f***ing say?' before kicking the cyclist's bike, leaving him bruised, and calling him a 'nonce'. Mr Envoldsen-Harris then reported the incident, which happened in December 2023, to the police. The case went to Basildon Magistrates' Court in August 2025, after Fry pleaded guilty to intentional harassment, driving without consideration for other road users, and criminal damage. Adam Fry, 34, admitted intentional harassment, driving without consideration for other road users, and criminal damage, and was found guilty in his absence of assault by beating Bikecam footage showed the driver accelerating past Mr Envoldsen-Harris through a pinch point on the road He pleaded not guilty to assault by beating. Fry didn't turn up in court for trial, so the case went on to be heard in his absence. He was found guilty of the assault charge and a warrant has been issued for his arrest so he can be sentenced. But he still has not been detained. Mr Envoldsen-Harris, who works in accounting, says he feels like the driver has 'got away with it'. He said: 'I've been cycling for 20 years, so I'm quite used to stuff happening - the odd close pass, the "must get in front", someone turning left across you, things like that. 'I think that was the first time I've ever actually had someone jump out their car and come at me like that, which was quite a shock at the time. 'I thought maybe I had time to get around the corner to get away from him, but I misjudged.' Tony Envoldsen-Harris, 47, was cycling in Grays, Essex, when the incident occurred Fry was enraged by the cyclist reading out his number plate and exited his vehicle, cigarette in hand He added: 'It's been almost a year since it was in court and the police just haven't been able to find him for whatever reason. 'I've tried reaching out to find out, but I've had no responses from them so far. 'I was really pleased with the police, they did a lot and kept me really well informed throughout the process, it's just since being in court I've not been told what's going on or what they've tried. 'I think that's where my frustration is - how hard is it really to find someone these days?' Essex Police said anyone with information on Fry or his whereabouts could contact the force quoting the case reference number 42/MR/13913/24. A spokesperson said: 'A warrant remains in place for the arrest of 36-year-old Adam Fry. 'Fry pleaded guilty to careless driving, attempted criminal damage and a public order offence on 23 May 2024, and was found guilty in his absence of assault by beating on 11 August 2025. 'Our officers are continuing to search for Fry and ensure he appears before court for sentencing.'
