By WILL HALLOWELL, NEWS REPORTER Published: 01:48, 23 June 2026 | Updated: 01:49, 23 June 2026 This is the moment a car ploughs into a crowd in east London, injuring six, before fleeing the scene.  Police have launched a manhunt for the 'hit-and-run' driver who speeds away after smashing into the back of a stationary blue car, narrowly missing passers-by, while others are struck in the terrifying crash.  CCTV footage from the incident, which occurred at 8.18am on Green Street, in Upton Park, on Saturday morning, shows a blue Toyota with a white sign displaying an 'L' for 'learner' coming to a stop on the high street. Only moments later, nearly a dozen pedestrians are seen walking on the pavement before a grey 4x4, which appears to be a Nissan Qashqai, comes hurtling round the bend.  The vehicle destroys everything in its path as the wanted motorist smashes through a lamppost, bringing it crashing down alongside a set of traffic lights.  As pedestrians run for cover, moving out of its path, the grey car slams into the rear of the stationary blue Toyota before the 'hit-and-run' driver comes to a halt. Both vehicles then come out of view of the CCTV camera.  The Metropolitan Police have now launched a manhunt for the driver. The Daily Mail understands that the conditions of all six people have now been confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing after they were rushed to hospital.  It had previously been reported that at least one person sustained life-changing injuries. A driver is understood to have been among the six injured. The blue Toyota comes to a stop on the high street outside Upton Park Underground Station Moments later the grey 4x4 ploughs into the car in front as pedestrians run for cover. Six people were injured in the crash The aftermath: Following the crash, traffic lights can be seen on the ground with the rear windscreen of the blue Toyota smashed in. Shards of glasses lay across the street As of Monday evening, there have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing. In the aftermath of the crash, officers set up cordons at both ends of Green Street, blocking an entire section of the busy road.  Crowds gathered behind the police tape in Upton Park on Saturday afternoon - and footage from the scene shows shards of glass littered across the ground, which officers were seen sweeping. The London Fire Brigade also attended the incident.  There was a significant police presence in the area, next to Upton Park Underground Station, which is located just metres from where the crash occurred.  With the road closed on Saturday, bus routes were diverted. These were TfL routes 58, 104, 330 and 376.  No comments have so far been submitted. Why not be the first to send us your thoughts, or debate this issue live on our message boards.
