Michael Keane signs new one-year Everton deal

Everton defender Michael Keane has signed a new one-year deal at the club.The Athletic reported earlier this week that Everton manager David Moyes was keen to retain the 33-year-old defender, whose contract was on course to expire at the end of the season.The deal Keane signed last summer contained a club option for a further year, but Everton have instead offered him a new contract on fresh terms, rewarding his improved performances this season.The former Manchester United and Burnley man is considered an important part of the defensive unit and has filled in well at centre-back in the absence of the injury-hit Jarrad Branthwaite.
