Man Utd make Matheus Cunha decision as ‘agreement’ reached with Brazil before World Cup

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal with Brazil's football federation that will see Matheus Cunha given a breather during the closing weeks of the campaign. Cunha returned from a spell on the sidelines to find the back of the net in United's thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford. The Brazilian had sat out United's win against Brentford the previous week through injury, but recovered sufficiently to line up for Michael Carrick's side in the triumph over Liverpool. United's victory over their fiercest rivals secured their place in next season's Champions League with three games still remaining. According to ESPN Brasil , United have come to an arrangement with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to give Cunha a rest across the club's final three Premier League outings this season. The report states this is to afford Cunha the maximum possible recovery time, ensuring he is at full fitness to represent Brazil at this summer's World Cup, which is set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico. United's remaining three fixtures will see them welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford, as well as travelling to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and Brighton at the Amex Stadium. How much playing time Cunha will receive during the remaining fixtures of the campaign is yet to be determined. Should the aforementioned report prove correct and the Brazilian is given a breather during the run-in, Patrick Dorgu's return to fitness could offer Carrick the opportunity to rest him on the left side of forward line. Cunha joined United last summer from Wolves in a deal worth £62.5million, and the forward has gone on to score nine goals during his debut season at Old Trafford.
