It said that "despite sustained efforts over a number of hours to engage with the man and bring the incident to a safe resolution", the man "presented a weapon before police fired" at about 09:30 on Tuesday.The man was pronounced dead shortly before 10:30, the police said, adding that the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly.
