The night prior, Singh was out with friends, drinking heavily and taking cocaine, the jury at his trial heard, and had picked up Ms Millar, who was a sex worker at the time. He drove to an industrial estate to have sex, but he choked her for several minutes for his own sexual pleasure. Ms Millar was found dead a day later by a member of the public at around 6am. She was found with an "unusual number" of fractures to her neck as well as injuries to her face said to have been caused by "heavy punches".
