Man dies after resisting arrest outside popular pub in Adelaide after damaging cars

Published: 01:34, 24 July 2026 | Updated: 01:36, 24 July 2026 A man has died after resisting arrest outside a popular pub in Adelaide's CBD.  Officers were called to West Terrace after reports of a man behaving in a 'disorderly manner and damaging vehicles', on Thursday just after 4.15am.  The incident is understood to have taken place between the Elephant and Castle Hotel and Lexus Adelaide dealership.  'While police were attempting to arrest the man he resisted arrest,' SA Police said. 'During this process the man became unresponsive, and despite the efforts of police and paramedics who performed CPR, he died at the scene.' The man as yet to be identified. His death will be subject to a coroner's investigation and a police commissioner's inquiry.  An anonymous Elephant and Castle worker told The Advertiser that hotel staff called police after seeing an individual walking laps around the premises.
