A teenage girl, Sarah Grace Patrick, is set to be tried for allegedly murdering her parents while they slept.

Her attorney attempted to delay the trial, citing new evidence, but the request was denied by the judge.

Patrick faces multiple charges, including malice murder, and has been denied bail due to the severity of the allegations.

By ALEX HAMMER, US MEDIA CORRESPONDENT Published: 03:44, 1 August 2026 | Updated: 04:26, 1 August 2026 A teenage girl who posted teary-eyed TikTok videos mourning the parents prosecutors would later accuse her of murdering will be tried as planned next week, despite her efforts to delay the case.  Sarah Grace Patrick, who was just 16 when she allegedly shot her mother and stepfather to death while they slept, will face a jury on Monday, relatives told WXIA-TV. Judge Dustin Hightower ignored an attempt from Patrick's attorney, Shawn Hoover, to hold the trial at a later date earlier this month. 'More needs to be done so I can adequately protect Ms. Patrick's interests moving forward,' Hoover maintained at the time, citing 'certain issues' with the case.  'We have started to get more information, more evidence from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) and from law enforcement,' he told Judge Hightower on July 13. The public defender disclaimed that the issues did not stem from the DA 'hiding information'. Hoover recently took over Patrick's case. 'This was more of I saw an issue that I believe [Patrick's former attorney] just didn't see and it turned in- it snowballed into something a lot bigger,' the lawyer said. Hoover said the issues also dealt with 'forensic evidence' gathered by the GBI. Sarah Grace Patrick - who was just 16 where she allegedly shot her mother and stepfather dead in their Georgia home - will face a jury on Monday Kristin Brock, 41, and Patrick's stepfather, James Brock, 45, were shot dead while they slept inside their home outside of Atlanta on February 20, 2025 Patrick, now 18, sat and smiled as Hoover made her case.  The teen is accused of shooting her 41-year-old mother, Kristin Brock, and stepfather James Brock, 45, dead on February 20, 2025.    Patrick faces two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two weapons charges as a result. The teen was arrested on July 8, 2025 - nearly half a year after the murders.  Patrick proceeded to plan her parents' funeral, offer a eulogy, and post a series of TikToks lamenting her situation. Cops secured 'a mountain' of digital and physical evidence during those months, prosecutors said during pretrial hearings.  Patrick turned herself in after officers successfully obtained a warrant for her arrest. She is now being tried as an adult. Patrick was the one to physically dial 911 after her then-five-year-old stepsister, Jaley, came across their parents' bodies.  Judge Dustin Hightower has ignored an attempt from Patrick's attorney, Shawn Hoover, to hold the trial at a later date, family members said There were no immediate suspects or leads, and the couple's deaths at first seemed like a mysterious tragedy. She was denied bail due to the severity of the charges against her on August 2025. If convicted, she faces life behind bars.  Prosecutors have turned over all evidence and records, despite the defense's claims.
