Major 10 points in the US-Iran ceasefire deal

ALBAWABA - U.S. President Donald Trump announced a two-week truce and a ceasefire with Iran, indicating that "great progress" had been made toward reaching a final deal.

Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday, barely an hour before Trump's deadline to obliterate Iran was set to expire, with Tehran agreeing to temporarily reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said, "We received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and we believe it is a viable basis for negotiation," stressing that he had agreed to halt bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks.

He said the two-week period would allow for the completion and finalization of the agreement. According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Iran proposed 10 points to agree on a ceasefire deal with Washington.

1. Guarantee of non-aggression against Iran.
2. Continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
3. Acceptance of uranium enrichment.
4. Lifting all primary sanctions on Iran.
5. Lifting all secondary sanctions on Iran.
6. A UN Security Council resolution making any deal binding.
7. The release of frozen Iranian assets.
8. Payment of compensation to Iran.
9. Withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region.
10. Cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including against the heroic Islamic Resistance in Lebanon.

The Guardian reported Wednesday that political experts and analysts have suggested that the U.S. wouldn't agree on Iran's maximalist demands, but will rather form the basis for talks between the two countries.
