Brian Rothmuller / Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Share full articleLess than 24 hours after they were in the center of a benches-clearing brawl at Angel Stadium, Atlanta Braves starter Reynaldo López and Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler are facing seven-game suspensions and undisclosed fines for their actions in the fight. Both are appealing the rulings. The disciplinary action is a result of a brawl that began in the fifth inning of the Braves’ 7-2 win over the Angels on Tuesday night. After López threw a pitch that sailed near the head of Soler, the Angels’ DH stared down the Braves’ right-hander and then charged the mound. The two exchanged haymakers, with López swinging with his right hand that still held the baseball. Only López and Soler were disciplined as a result of the brawl. Both will be eligible to play while their appeals are pending. Spot the pattern.
