The majority of Londoners do not want Sir Sadiq Khan to stand for a fourth term as Mayor, a bombshell new poll has revealed.
On Thursday, YouGov released a survey which found that 56 per cent of London residents believe Sir Sadiq should stand down and hand the Labour candidacy to a new name at the next election in 2028.
The London Mayor has served in his post since 2016, winning three elections to cling onto power in the capital.
However, the new poll revealed that the majority of Londoners, at 55 per cent, believe the city has become a worse place to live since Sir Sadiq took charge over a decade ago.
Some 18 per cent of Londoners said they believe the city has stayed about the same, while just 19 per cent believe the city has improved in the past 10 years.
The sentiment was felt more strongly among those who had lived in the capital for longer - with 60 per cent of those who have been in the capital for over a decade saying it has become a worse city to live in.
The poll also revealed fury at crime in the capital among residents, with 57 per cent believing the Mayor has handled the issue badly compared to less than a third (31 per cent) saying he has done well.
The issue of housing was another sore point for Londoners - with just 17 per cent saying he has handled the policy area well.

When he entered City Hall in 2016, Sir Sadiq said that building more homes would be his "single biggest priority" - but over three quarters (76 per cent) of respondents said affordable housing had become worse in the city.
Just five per cent of Londoners said they believe housing affordability had been improved since 2016.
On his overall record, London residents were split on how Sir Sadiq has performed during his time in City Hall.
Some 47 per cent say they believe he has performed badly in his decade-long reign, compared to 40 per cent who say he has done a good job.

Though compared to his predecessor Boris Johnson, 42 per cent say the Labour mayor has performed better, compared to 31 per cent who say he has performed worse.
Sir Sadiq is yet to confirm whether he will launch a bid for a fourth term in City Hall.
However, the London Mayor teased another run earlier this year, saying he had “already worked out” his campaign for the next vote.
He told The London Standard: “Once the election begins, we know who the candidates are, I will have a strategy to deal with both Count Binface and Reform."

YouGov data journalist Matthew Smith said: “While Sadiq Khan has a reasonably high favourability rating among Londoners, at least for a politician, only 24 per cent of them think he should run for a fourth term as Mayor of London.
“This compares to the 56 per cent who think he should let a different Labour candidate contest that election, which is scheduled for May 2028.
“Among those who voted Labour at the last general election 39 per cent think he should run again, compared to 41 per cent who think he should stand down.”
