"Landing hours away": 3,500 marines secretly arrive in region aboard USS Tripoli

ALBAWABA - As Washington continues to bolster its military presence in the Middle East, the United States has sent some 3,500 sailors and Marines there on board the USS Tripoli (LHA-7).

The ship entered its area of responsibility on March 27, according to U.S. Central Command, amid mounting worries about a possible escalation involving Iran.

Deployment of Amphibious Forces

Operating with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the USS Tripoli is the flagship of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group. They work together to create a cohesive force that can perform operations on land, at sea, and in the air.

By combining amphibious assault capabilities with aircraft and ground forces, the deployment demonstrates the U.S. military's capacity to project power quickly.

Increasing Tensions

The action is taken at a time when regional tensions are still rising and there are rumors that Iran may be involved in a larger military conflict. Although U.S. authorities are still positioning soldiers around the region, they have not confirmed any upcoming ground operations.
