Lamine Yamal Becomes Youngest Player Ever to Reach 100 La Liga Matches
Lamine Yamal has written another chapter in Spanish football history, becoming the youngest player ever to reach 100 La Liga appearances.
The FC Barcelona winger reached this record on Saturday, April 11, during the Catalan derby against RCD Espanyol, doing so at just 18 years and 272 days old.
In the process, he smashed the previous record held by Raúl González, who had reached 100 league matches at 19 years and 284 days in 1997.
And Yamal celebrated it in spectacular fashion.
During Barcelona’s 4-1 win, the teenage star’s performance was amazing. He scored one goal and provided two assists for Ferran Torres.
It was the perfect way to mark his 100th appearance and further underline his importance to Barça’s title push.

A growing list of records
The record becomes even more impressive when looking at his attacking numbers. After 100 La Liga matches, Yamal now has:
- 29 goals
- 34 assists
- 63 direct goal contributions
Among Barcelona’s youngest debutants after their first 100 league games, only Lionel Messi had better scoring numbers. Messi had registered 48 goals in his first century of La Liga appearances.
The comparison with some of football’s other biggest names show just how remarkable the achievement is. Age at 100 La Liga matches:
