LaLiga Launches ‘Next Gen Draft’ Talent Program in Morocco
Rabat – Spain’s top football league, LaLiga, has launched its international “Next Gen Draft” program in Morocco. The initiative aims to discover and develop young football talent.
The program officially kicked off on Friday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale. LaLiga and EA Sports organized it in partnership with EvoSport and with support from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
“Next Gen Draft” combines competition, training, and international exposure. It aims to give young players from different backgrounds the chance to grow and showcase their skills.
This is the first time the program is taking place in Morocco. The event runs from March 27 to 29 and focuses on creating real opportunities for young Moroccan players, both male and female.
Speaking to the press, LaLiga sports projects director Juan Florez said he was pleased to launch the second edition of the program in Morocco. He noted that the country is rich in football talent and said organizers expect a high level from participants.
Florez added that the initiative is part of LaLiga’s international strategy, which has been active for 10 years across 60 countries. The league has carried out more than 1,000 sports projects worldwide.
Selected players from this stage will move on to the next phase in Spain. There, they will train under LaLiga coaches and play matches against Spanish clubs and academies.
Omar Benazzouz, director of EvoSport, said Morocco was chosen as the first stop of this edition because of the country’s strong reputation in international football. He said the program offers young players a chance to compete, test their abilities, and benefit from high-level training.
He also described the initiative as a platform for sharing experience and expertise between participants and organizers.
In addition to Morocco, the 2026 edition of “Next Gen Draft” will also take place in Mexico, Japan, Nigeria, and China. The final stage will take place in Spain and bring together around 900 young players from around the world.
