Thiago Avila ile Filistin asıllı İspanyol Seyf Ebu Kişk için Roma'da sabah saatlerinde bir etkinlik düzenlendi. Küresel Sumud Filosu İtalya Sözcüsü Maria Elena Delia, İtalya Dışişleri Bakanlığı binası önünde basına yaptığı açıklamada, Thiago Avila ve Seyf Ebu Kişk’in bir İtalyan teknesinden alıkonulduğunu belirterek, "Bu, deniz hukuku açısından onların Roma’dan hukuksuz şekilde alınması anlamına gelir. Tekneler, Girit'in 20 mil açığındaydı, uluslararası sularda ama Yunanistan'ın yetki alanında. Bu, aktivistler için değil, Avrupa için ciddi bir durumdur." dedi. Delia, Avila ve Kişk’in bir an önce serbest bırakılmalarını talep ettiklerini dile getirerek, "Bu hukuki bir meseledir. Eğer uluslararası sularda, İtalyan bayraklı bir tekneden kaçırılmalarına izin verilirse, bu uluslararası hukukun sistematik ve cezasız ihlalinin bir başka tırmanışı olur. İsrail'in Gazze ablukasını kırma ve yaşamsal insani yardım ulaştırmayı amaçlayan Küresel Sumud Filosu 2026 Bahar Misyonu, 12 Nisan'da İspanya'nın Barselona kentinden Akdeniz’e açıldı. İtalya'nın Sicilya Adası'ndaki katılımlarla filo, 39 farklı ülkeden aralarında Türklerin de bulunduğu 345 katılımcıyla 26 Nisan'da yeniden yola koyuldu. İsrail ordusu, 29 Nisan gece saatlerinde Girit Adası açıklarındaki uluslararası sularda hukuk dışı müdahalede bulunarak, aktivistleri taşıyan teknelere saldırdı. Gazze’ye 600 deniz mili uzaklıkta, Yunan kara sularından birkaç mil açıkta düzenlenen saldırıda, İsrail ordusu 177 aktivisti alıkoyup kötü muamelede bulundu. İsrail ordusu, Yunan kara sularına dönen bir grup tekne dışında, diğer teknelere de zarar verip yolculuk edilemeyecek hale getirdi. 31 aktivisti yaralayan İsrail ordusu, filo yöneticisi 2 aktivist dışında grubu, 1 Mayıs’ta Yunanistan’ın Girit Adası'na bıraktı. Aralarında Türk vatandaşlarının bulunduğu aktivistlerin bir kısmı ülkelerine dönerken, Yunan kara sularında halen onlarca Küresel Sumud Filosu teknesi misyonun devamı için bekliyor.
