Görgü tanıklarının aktardığına göre patlama, araç trafiğinin yoğun olduğu sırada meydana geldi. Saldırıda, bölgede "chiva" olarak bilinen geleneksel bir köy otobüsü patlamanın etkisiyle kullanılmaz hale geldi. Petro, silahlı kuvvetlerden operasyonların yoğunlaştırmasını isteyerek, "Cajibio'daki 7 sivil öldüren ve 20 sivili yaralayanlar teröristtir, faşisttir ve uyuşturucu kaçakçısıdır. Bu narko-terörist gruba karşı dünya çapında en üst düzeyde takip başlatılmasını istiyorum." ifadesini kullandı. Öte yandan ülkenin Cali kentinde bir askeri üs yakınında bomba yüklü bir otobüsle düzenlenen saldırıda ise 2 kişi yaralandı.
