Keir Starmer branded 'useless' in scathing takedown over antisemitism crackdown: 'Never takes action!'

Sir Keir Starmer has been branded "useless" by Mike Parry over Labour's "inaction" on the rise of antisemitism in Britain.

Speaking to GB News, the broadcaster hit out at the Prime Minister's newly announced crackdown on crimes against the Jewish community, declaring "nothing ever changes".

Under new legislation, Iranian proxies which are behind antisemitic attacks on British soil could face up to 14 years in prison.

The law, set to be announced in next week's King's Speech, will grant Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood the ability to designate proxy groups as a foreign intelligence service, even if they are not aware of what foreign country they are working for.

Hate crime prosecutions are also set to be "fast-tracked" following a string of antisemitic attacks across the UK.

Reacting to the move by the Government, Mr Parry accused the PM of using "banal words" and taking "no action".

He told GB News: "It doesn't matter whether he speaks out or not, because we know now from the 22 months he's been in power that all Keir Starmer ever does in a crisis is appear in front of a TV camera and repeat the issue with banal words like 'has no place in British society'.

"But he never changes anything, he never takes any action. He never initiates anything to make people's lives better. He is absolutely useless at doing anything that improves people's life or makes us safe."

Taking issue with Labour's bid to "fast track" antisemitic hate crimes, former Labour MP Stephen Pound argued it will mean other cases including "rape and murder" will be "pushed down the list" as a result.

He said: "It really shocks me, this idea of actually fast tracking hate crimes in the British courts. A lot of people on the left, we've been defending against this accusation that we have two-tier justice in this country, believe you me.

"However, the Director of Public Prosecutions has said we should be prioritising hate crimes. In other words, somebody who has been raped or murdered, that case gets pushed down because some posh boy down at Glastonbury is shouting 'death to the IDF'.

"As far as I'm concerned, this absolutely underlines the accusation of two-tier justice."

Mr Pound warned the impact of prioritising hate crimes could be "corrosive" for society.

He argued: "The idea that there actually is a different scale of justice in this country, it's absolutely corrosive.

"There's huge debate about the hate marches, and everybody knows you don't want to ban hate marches, you want to ban hate on marches. Because you can't ban every march, it's ridiculous."

Mr Parry interjected, hitting back: "You do want to ban hate marches – I'm sorry – there are people in this country who are issuing hate speeches all the time (and) hate comments all the time, and they're just waived through by the police.

"If that's not two-tier policing, I don't know what is. There are already laws there to stop people saying things which are malicious against other avenues of society."

In a statement, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "British Jews now appear on the hate lists of every major extremist movement: extreme right‑wing groups, Islamist terrorists, elements of the extreme left and hostile state actors.

"It is a deeply concerning convergence, and Jewish communities are living with the consequences of that risk daily.

"This focus does not mean the Metropolitan Police is deprioritising other communities. Hate crime in all its forms – including ongoing efforts to tackle racism, anti‑Muslim hate crime, homophobia and other forms of hatred in the capital – remains a core policing priority."
