Jewish revellers are abused at London Pride and told to 'go back to your Zionist homeland' - while police stand by

By OLIVIA CHRISTIE, NEWS REPORTER Published: 23:12, 5 July 2026 | Updated: 23:28, 5 July 2026 Shocking footage shows Jewish revellers being harassed and heckled at London's Pride march - while police officers watched on and made no arrests.  Scotland Yard said it was investigating anti-Semitic abuse after clips posted online showed Jews being told to 'go back to your Zionist homeland' and that 'you kill Arab children, you kill gay children' in reference to the war in Gaza. One woman also appeared to shout 'f*** you, Jew' during a confrontation that began with chants of 'Free Palestine' in Soho on Saturday.  At least two police officers could be seen standing in the street as the incidents unfolded but no arrests were made for racist or religious abuse.  The Met had pledged a 'heavy police presence' at Pride to ensure the tens of thousands of attendees could 'safely and securely' enjoy the event. Campaign Against Antisemitism has called for the perpetrators of the alleged abuse to be identified and 'punished'.  A spokesperson for the organisation told The Telegraph: 'The transition from 'free Palestine' to 'f*** Jews' is usually silent.  'This incident shows it loudly and explicitly.' They added: 'Jewish people have given up expecting to be included in so-called inclusive movements, but they should still be entitled to the same protections under the law as everybody else.'  The incidents at Pride are just the latest in a spate of anti-Semitic attacks plaguing London, including the attempted murder of two men in Golders Green earlier this year.  Some 140 incidences of anti-Jewish hate were logged across the capital in April, up from 98 in March and 67 in February.  The borough of Barnet saw the highest number, accounting for 51 of the 140 (36 per cent).  Campaign Against Antisemitism has called for the perpetrators of the alleged abuse to be identified and 'punished' Members of the Jewish LGBT+ community are seen at London Pride on Saturday  Barnet includes the districts of Golders Green, Hendon and Finchley, all of which have large Jewish populations.  Attempted arson attacks were carried out at Finchley Reform Synagogue on April 15 and at the building of a former Jewish charity in Hendon on April 18.  A memorial wall in Golders Green was also targeted on April 28.  The 140 offences recorded in April were the highest monthly figure since the Metropolitan Police changed how it records hate crimes in March 2024.  Data from the previous method of counting shows a large spike in anti-Semitic hate crimes following the outbreak of the Hamas-Israel conflict in October 2023. Offences jumped from 61 in September 2023 to 518 in October and 411 in November that year.  The Met subsequently announced a dedicated new 'community protection team' of 100 officers to tackle anti-Jewish hate crime. But the new unit will require tripling in size at a cost of £35million a year, it is understood. A Met spokesman said: 'The Met continues to work hard to tackle hate crimes of all types, and officers across London have made more than 90 hate crime arrests since the end of March.'
