By MATT JONES, SENIOR NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 02:57, 2 May 2026 | Updated: 02:57, 2 May 2026 The family of an Aussie dad who disappeared without a trace five years ago has finally received closure following a major development in the case.  Remains discovered in bushland south of Adelaide last week have been identified as missing man Jeff Mundy. His decomposed body was found by a bushwalker off Mount Alma Road at Inman Valley at about 5.30pm on April 24.  Mr Mundy was last seen by his family on December 19, 2020, in the Seaford area, south of Adelaide. The then 36-year-old was captured on CCTV filling a prescription at a chemist in the Colonnades Shopping Centre at Noarlunga. At the time of his disappearance his father Rob made a plea for information, saying: 'We're a tight family and we all feel each other's pain and Jeff was part of us.' Mr Mundy's family released a statement with Rob describing the 'unbearable ache' of not knowing what happened to their loved one.  'To the person who found Jeff, we could never express enough gratitude to you for assisting to bring our son home,' the statement read.  Aussie dad Jeff Mundy (pictured) was last seen on CCTV filling a script at a chemist in the Colonnades Shopping Centre at Noarlunga in December, 2020 Jeff Mundy's family lays flowers at Spring Mount Conservation Park, where his remains were discovered by a bush walker last Friday 'For five-and-a-half years, our family has lived with unbearable ache, the pain of not knowing what happened to Jeff or where he was. 'The suffering and heartbreak caused by the loss of Jeffrey has impacted everybody and every member of our family, and it is something that we are forced to live with each and every day.' Rob said his son was a loving father and son and appealed to anyone with knowledge of the circumstances of his death to come forward. 'We are grateful Jeffrey has now been found and brought home so we can lay Jeff to rest with love and the dignity he deserves,' he said. SAPOL previously alleged Mr Mundy was murdered over a small drug debt and that there are people who know what happened to him.  'Now that we have located Jeff, we will be reviewing all aspects of the initial investigation,' Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said. 'It's been over five years since Jeff Mundy went missing. It's possible those people, for whatever reason, did not come forward at the time of the initial investigation. 'Over the last five years, people who did not come forward, their circumstances and their allegiances may have changed.' Police have offered a $200,000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to a conviction. No comments have so far been submitted.
