Mr Vance, 41, was left holding his mobile phone to the podium’s microphone at the rally in Hungary. He had addressed crowds, trying to encourage them to reelect far-right Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.‌But Mr Trump, 79, was unable to initially chip in to help persuade the group in Budapest on Tuesday. It left Mr Vance with an awkward encounter in front of the 5,000 citizens in the nation led by the right-wing politician, a former lawyer, since 2010.‌Speaking to the crowd, the US Vice President said: "Before I started my remarks, I actually had a special guest that asked that I give him a phone call. Let’s hope he actually answers. This is going to be very embarrassing."Seconds after Mr Vance initiated the call, it went straight to voicemail. Mr Trump was likely focusing his efforts on the situation in the Middle East as, by this stage, he had issued a chilling threat of "complete demolition" of Iran.
