Sağlık Bakanı Garcia, bir televizyon programına yaptığı açıklamada, Netanyahu için "Bu kişi, yüzyılımızın en büyük soykırımlarından birini gerçekleştiren, Filistin'de 20 binden fazlası çocuk olmak üzere 70 bin sivili öldüren, Lübnan'ın güneyini harap eden, soykırımcı bir adam." dedi. İsrail Başbakanı'nın İspanya'yı kendilerine karşı "diplomatik savaş yürütmekle" suçlamasını ve "Buna izin vermeyeceğim." şeklinde konuşmasını "Kötü bir şaka mı bu?" olarak yorumlayan Bakan Garcia, "Şaka mı değil mi bilmem ama kesin olan, İspanya'nın bu adama karşı duruyor olmasıdır. İspanya'nın birçok kez Tel Aviv'in karşısında yer aldığını iddia eden Netanyahu, dün yaptığı açıklamada, ABD'nin Gazze anlaşmasını denetlemek için ülkenin güneyindeki Kiryat Gat'ta kurduğu askeri üste bulunan Sivil-Askeri Koordinasyon Merkezinden İspanyol temsilcileri çıkarma kararı aldığını duyurmuştu. Netanyahu, İsrail'e karşı diplomatik savaş yürütmekle suçladığı İspanya'yı "bunun bedelini ödemekle" tehdit etmişti. İspanya Dışişleri Bakanı Jose Manuel Albares, Tahran Büyükelçiliğini derhal açma kararını "ABD ile İran arasında varılan iki haftalık ateşkes ışığında ve bu barış çabasını her iki taraftan da teşvik etme amacıyla" aldıklarını ifade ederken, İsrail Dışişleri Bakanı (Gideon) Saar ise bu kararı sert bir dille eleştirmişti.
