Hundreds of migrants have been sighted taking trains and buses from Calais to France’s southern coasts, where dozens of small boats have been launched in recent weeks.
GB News Home and Security Editor Mark White warned that a wave of crossings was now likely imminent, with favourable weather conditions expected to continue.
He said: “This is what they do. They take public transport. They go a hundred miles further down the coast to the likes of Dieppe, where their boats are launched from.”
Mark described the current situation as “utterly unbelievable and actually quite scandalous” as migrants flagrantly travel through France with the intention of breaking into Britain.
“They are rarely, if ever, checked by the French authorities and just willy nilly heading on to free bus services that take them down to the beaches that they launch from.
“Or indeed they get on the trains in the likes of Calais or Dunkirk and head south.
“They don't pay for their tickets. The migrants march onto the train, and no one ever stops them because there are about 200 or 300 strong.
“So that's what's been seen today,” Mark said, reflecting reports from his team in the area.
“They're likely going to push off at some point, either later this evening or probably tomorrow, with the weather still very good in the channel.”
People smuggling gangs have been expanding their operations further south in France to dodge efforts to prevent crossings.
Vessels have also been increasing in size, with so-called “mega dinghys” carrying more than 150 migrants being launched towards British shores.
Meanwhile, the UK’s efforts to cooperate with France on the crisis have hit another snag after it was revealed dozens of small boat crossers who were deported under the “one-in, one-out” deal have broken back into Britain.

Nearly 50 asylum seekers have now made their way back to the UK after the scheme was brought into force in September.
Home Office figures show 1,087 (four per cent) of migrants were returned across the English Channel, from data from August 4 last year until June 30 earlier this year.
During that same time period, 27,920 asylum seekers made the illegal crossing on small boats.
At the same time, over 2,000 migrants crossed the English Channel in the first fortnight of Andy Burnham’s reign as Prime Minister.
Mr Burnham pledged to be “relentless” in addressing the crisis while visiting a border control site in Dover last week.
“The number of crossings is down by 50 per cent this year compared with the same period in 2025 and the month we've just had,” the Prime Minister said.
“July has been the lowest number for six years of people crossing, so clearly progress is being made. But we're not complacent.
“It's why I am here. It's why I've come down on Sunday to see the team, to listen to what they think needs to be done, what further can be done."
