Hundreds of drivers fined after parking illegally to visit Swansea beaches during heatwave

Hundreds of people were hit with fines for parking dangerously at beach car parks in Swansea during the recent hot spell. A spokesman for the city council said Caswell Bay and Langland Bay were overrun by "illegally and dangerously" parked vehicles. It forced South Wales Police to close roads into the area of Caswell Bay on bank holiday Monday. A Swansea council spokesman said the authority's civil parking enforcement service issued more than 300 penalty charge notices across the weekend. On Bank Holiday Monday the team issued more than 90 parking tickets to drivers who parked in dangerous positions at Caswell Bay. In what it described as an "important notice for motorists" a statement from Swansea Council read: "During the recent busy bank holiday weekend our beach car parks (Caswell Bay and Langland Bay) and surrounding roads became overrun with vehicles that chose to park illegally and dangerously. "This led to police attending to close roads into the Caswell Bay area on bank holiday Monday. "Our civil parking enforcement service issued more than 300 penalty charge notices (PCNs) during the weekend. "At Caswell Bay on bank holiday Monday our team issued more than 90 parking tickets to motorists that chose to leave their vehicles in dangerous positions on the road. "We will be stepping up our patrols at beach locations to continue enforcement against motorists that park illegally. "If you are planning on visiting one of these locations during the busy summer period please park considerately and legally.
