Published: 00:10, 23 April 2026 | Updated: 00:19, 23 April 2026 A police officer in Texas was relieved of duty after an alleged viral video showed her spewing a vile racist rant against black people. Officer Ashley Gonzalez of the Houston Police Department (HPD) was relieved of her duty as an internal investigation determines the validity of a video allegedly showing her racist tirade, according to Fox26. The alleged footage of Gonzalez shows a woman in a vehicle using multiple racist slurs as she declared that she hated black people and threatened to arrest a black person the following day while on duty. 'Let me get a f*****g black person on a 911 call tomorrow. You're going f****** to jail,' said the woman in the video. 'The amount of times I will always and forever say that I f***** hate n*****... like I hate y'all,' she disgustingly added. The rant came after she claimed a black person tried to steal her wallet while she was out with a friend. She said she felt good as she called the alleged thief a slur, adding that it reminded her of her time in the Marine Corps. According to Click 2 Houston, the US Marine Corps confirmed that Gonzalez served from 2019 to 2023. Officer Ashley Gonzalez of the Houston Police Department was allegedly filmed spewing a vile racist rant  Gonzalez who was sworn in January, 2024 was relieved of her duties as an internal investigation determines the validity of the video The woman in the video uses multiple racist slurs as she declared that she hated black people and threatened to arrest a black person the following day while on duty The Houston Police Officers Union acknowledged the rant in a statement on Tuesday, denouncing the racist remarks and adding that they and HPD do not tolerate the alleged behavior by any of their officers. 'It is our belief that the Department is diligently working to confirm the authenticity of this video and will take appropriate measures to ensure public confidence and trust between our department and our community,' reads the statement. Authorities also told KHOU that they believe the woman in the video is Gonzalez. She is still employed at the department, but the results of the investigation will determine if she will be reinstated or indefinitely suspended. If indefinitely suspended, she would be terminated and ineligible to be rehired by the department. Gonzalez joined the force in January 2024 and was assigned to the South Gessner Patrol Division. Authorities told KHOU that they believe the woman in the video is Gonzalez Several activists and organizations have called for Gonzalez's firing from the department, including Candice Matthews. Matthews, a civil rights activist, took to Facebook, calling out the officer, noting that while she supports the police, she does not stand for racism hiding behind the badge. 'You will not use the N-word and talk about black people and think you gon' still be holding the badge in my damn city,' said Matthews. One upload of the alleged rant by Gonzalez reached more than 1.1 million views and thousands of comments condemning the racist remarks.  The Daily Mail has reached out to the Houston Police Department for comment.
