Hezbollah repels Israeli ground attack in southern Lebanon

ALBAWABA- Hezbollah released video footage on Monday showing captured Israeli military gear, destroyed vehicles, and a damaged bridge, claiming its fighters successfully repelled an Israeli ground incursion along the southern Lebanese border. 

Hezbollah released footage showing an ambush on Israeli forces in the Tayyiba area near the Yidir River in southern Lebanon, claiming significant damage to military vehicles and personnel during the engagement.

The group said several Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded, forcing the attackers to retreat under fire. Additional footage showed drone strikes targeting Israeli tanks, armored vehicles, and other military positions in the same sector.

The Israeli army confirmed it launched the operation but described Hezbollah’s resistance as intense, offering no immediate details on casualties.

The clash is part of a broader surge in cross-border fighting, which has seen repeated Israeli strikes destroy villages and infrastructure across southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that civilian deaths in the conflict have now exceeded 1,480, with many more injured. Israeli military sources report dozens of soldiers killed and hundreds wounded since the escalation began.

Tens of thousands of Israeli residents remain displaced from border towns, including Kiryat Shmona and other Upper Galilee communities, where rocket fire and security concerns have emptied residential areas for months.

The exchanges occur amid a wider regional conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, with Hezbollah actively supporting Palestinian and Lebanese fronts. 

Both sides report no immediate ceasefire prospects, with Israeli officials vowing continued pressure on Hezbollah positions and the Lebanese group pledging sustained resistance. Diplomatic efforts remain stalled as casualties mount on both sides.
