المصدر: GB News | Source: GB NewsDaryl Hall, the 79-year-old musician best known as one half of Hall & Oates, has disclosed that he received a kidney transplant earlier this month.
The singer shared the news via Instagram on Tuesday, expressing gratitude towards the living donor who provided the organ.
Mr Hall described the person who gave him their kidney as "very kind and generous" in his social media announcement.
The procedure took place approximately a fortnight ago, and the veteran performer has indicated he is already experiencing improvements in his health.
TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayHis medical team has declared the operation an unqualified success, with Mr Hall anticipating a full recovery within several months.
In his Instagram message, Mr Hall wrote: "It was, according to my doctors, a complete success.
"I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl's House shows. You all take care."
The 79-year-old, who received a Lyme disease diagnosis back in 2005, chose not to identify the individual who donated the organ.
He also declined to elaborate on the underlying medical circumstances that necessitated the transplant.
The majority of kidney donations typically originate from deceased individuals, though living donors, who are frequently close relatives, can provide either a kidney or a portion of their liver.
Mr Hall has endured significant health challenges over the years, with his Lyme disease battle proving particularly debilitating.
He publicly discussed his condition in 2015, calling it "the worst thing that has ever happened to me".

In a 2017 interview, he revealed the severity of his illness, stating: "In February of 2015, at my very sickest from chronic Lyme and Bartonella, after it was missed by eleven NYC doctors, I was homebound and in heart failure."
The bacterial infection, transmitted through bites from infected black-legged ticks, can cause fever, headaches, fatigue and a distinctive skin rash.
Without proper treatment, the disease may spread to joints, the heart and nervous system, potentially proving fatal.
Mr Hall and Mr Oates began their partnership in Philadelphia in 1970, going on to dominate the charts during the following two decades with tracks including Rich Girl, Maneater and You Make My Dreams.
The pair earned induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, followed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014, before receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September 2016.
Their professional relationship soured dramatically when Mr Hall secured a temporary restraining order against Mr Oates, 78, in November 2023 over a business dispute.
The legal battle centred on Mr Oates' proposed sale of his stake in the duo's joint business venture, a move Mr Hall's team allegedly branded the "ultimate partnership betrayal".
Mr Oates denied wrongdoing and insisted he simply wanted to move on from the arrangement.
The former bandmates ultimately settled the dispute through arbitration in August 2025.
