The Transport and Logistics Bureau on Thursday revealed that Haeco, a sister company of flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways, had signed the agreement with China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) earlier in the week.Under the new agreement, the two Hong Kong-headquartered companies will establish an aircraft engine maintenance centre in the city, with an initial focus on quick-turn services, hospital repair and engine asset management. Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan said on social media that the agreement would help strengthen the city’s status as an international aviation hub. “This MOU witnesses a powerful alliance between two industry powerhouses, demonstrating the vast potential of complementary strengths and deeper collaboration between the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong,” she said. Chan added that as the country’s largest independent aircraft lessor, CALC would bring comprehensive service capabilities and that its technologically diverse fleet provided an “indispensable operating foundation” for the new venture. “Meanwhile, Haeco boasts a heritage of more than half a century rooted in Hong Kong, backed by the world-class technical expertise of its professionals and cutting-edge facilities that have long cemented its global reputation for engineering mastery,” she said.
