At least 15 have also been injured, including a child, according to the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko.‌Harrowing video footage shows the shooter brandishing his automatic weapon in the Velmart supermarket while holding hostages.‌Soon after, Ukrainian special forces stormed the store after negotiations failed and killed the suspect.
