Green Bay Packers select cornerback Brandon Cisse with 52nd pick in 2026 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers drafted South Carolina cornerback Brandon Cisse with the 52nd pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. He was the seventh cornerback picked. Cisee finished his career at South Carolina last year after two seasons at NC State. Two of his five pass breakups last season came in a season-opening win against Virginia Tech, and he nabbed his lone interception of the season against Kentucky. His 4.41-second speed in the 40-yard dash puts him at the top end of his position and turned him into an intriguing, raw prospect. He also jumped 41 inches in the vertical leap at the combine. Last year, 19 of his 27 tackles were solo, and he showed a willingness and ability to help in run support. His modest production is a concern, but speed and athletic ability can’t be taught; technique can. That gives him major upside and helped him shoot up draft boards, despite never earning All-conference honors. Cisse ranked No. 45 on Dane Brugler’s top 300 big board. Here’s what Bruglar said about Cisse in his annual NFL Draft guide: “Cisse is an unrefined, promising cover athlete with the twitched-up movements and speed to become an NFL starter. However, his pro ceiling will be determined by the development of his route recognition and ball skills. He offers inside-outside versatility with special teams (gunner) upside.” Unrefined but promising; late to anticipate routes, but has NFL speed. Cisse might need some time in the soup before he can be fully counted on as a starter, but his athleticism at 6-0, 190 (41-inch vert, 4.41 40) flashes legit CB1 potential. This is a classic Packers pick, as it’ll take work to get Cisse to his ceiling — but this is sort of what the Packers do. Grade: A- Cisse has the cover skills and speed to become an NFL starter at cornerback, with the ability to also play nickel and gunner on special teams. The Packers’ top two cornerbacks are Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, a duo who didn’t quite look Super Bowl-caliber down the stretch of last season. It wouldn’t be a shock if Cisse competes for a starting spot later this summer, even if general manager Brian Gutekunst is satisfied with Valentine as his No. 2 cornerback. — Schneidman Plenty of fans aren’t satisfied with Nixon and Valentine as the top two, but Gutekunst sounded far more pleased with the duo when discussing them this offseason. The Packers also signed veteran cornerback Benjamin St-Juste this offseason, and he’s currently their No. 3. Gutekunst said earlier this week that cornerback was the position on the team needing the most bodies, and he addresses that need with his first selection this year. Right now, Cisse is probably No. 4 on the depth chart, but being a second-round pick might mean he doesn’t stay there long. — Schneidman Dane Brugler’s best player available when the Packers took Cisse was Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, his No. 14 overall prospect who’s falling after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. The Packers also could’ve taken players like Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon, Iowa guard Gennings Dunker, Penn State edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton or Iowa State defensive tackle Domonique Orange. — Schneidman The Packers addressed arguably their biggest position of need with a guy who can provide much-needed depth right now and grow into a starter in the near future, which they’ll need next year at the latest. If Gutekunst’s second-round track record is any indication, Cisse will become a critical player for the Packers in short order. — Schneidman Spot the pattern.
