المصدر: GB News | Source: GB NewsIn today's GB News Daily Reflection, we remember Jesus Christ’s parable of the wheat and the weeds argues that while evil may appear to go unpunished for a time, God allows a season of grace before a final judgment in which justice will ultimately be done.
“People often ask me that big theological question: why does evil seemingly go unpunished so often? Where's the justice?
“There is, of course, an ultimate answer to that question, which is that in the end, when Jesus returns, there will be justice. Final justice.
“But what about now? Jesus tells a story about wheat and weeds. A farmer sowed wheat in his field. But whilst he slept, his enemy sowed weeds amongst the wheat. When they sprouted, so did the weeds.
“So what was the farmer to do? Pull them up. But then he'd risk harming the wheat also. So instead he permits both to grow, but only for a time. When harvest comes, and the wheat is strong enough, he gathers it in and then deals with the weeds.
“We live, Jesus proclaimed, in a season of grace, a time of God's unmerited favour. We're all beneficiaries of that. God is giving us the maximum opportunity to choose what is right.”
