حقق الفرنسي ​آرثر فيس​ إنجازاً لافتاً بتأهله إلى نصف نهائي ​بطولة ميامي للأساتذة​ (1000 نقطة)، للمرة الأولى في مسيرته، عقب فوز دراماتيكي على الأميركي ​تومي بول​ بمجموعتين مقابل مجموعة بواقع 6-7، 7-6، 7-6

وشهدت المباراة إثارة كبيرة، خاصة في المجموعة الثالثة، حيث كان فيس متأخراً بنتيجة 6-2 في شوط كسر التعادل، قبل أن ينقذ أربع نقاط حاسمة متتالية ويقلب النتيجة لصالحه بعد مواجهة استمرت ساعتين و49 دقيقة.

وقال اللاعب الفرنسي البالغ 21 عاماً عقب اللقاء إن المباراة كانت بمثابة “معركة شرسة”، مؤكداً أنه لم يستسلم رغم صعوبة الموقف، ومعتبراً هذا الفوز الأفضل في مسيرته حتى الآن.

وضرب فيس موعداً في نصف النهائي مع التشيكي ​يري ليهيشكا​، المصنف 21، الذي بلغ الدور ذاته بعد فوزه على الإسباني مارتين لاندالوس بمجموعتين دون رد 7-6، 7-5 منهياً مغامرته اللافتة في البطولة.

وكان ليهيشكا قد تفوق على فيس في مواجهة سابقة، ما ينذر بمباراة قوية بين اللاعبين على بطاقة التأهل إلى النهائي.
