Former Steelers, Bears WR Chase Claypool gets tryout at Packers minicamp

Veteran wide receiver Chase Claypool is attending Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Claypool, 27, was present at the Packers’ practice on Friday in Green Bay alongside their six draft picks, 10 undrafted rookie signings, 13 current young players and eight other tryout players.Claypool, a 2020 second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Notre Dame, was a PFWA all-rookie team selection in 2020, when he had 873 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns. He was traded to the Chicago Bears at the 2022 trade deadline, then dealt to the Miami Dolphins less than a year later. He hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2023. Claypool suffered a toe injury during training camp with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 and was released that August.Claypool has 175 catches for 2,261 yards, 13 receiving touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in 58 career games with the Steelers, Bears and Dolphins.
