Father-son duo break THREE world records after cycling 18,000 miles around the globe for charity
A father and son duo have spoken to GB News after trekking around 31 countries on a record-breaking charity cycling challenge.
Speaking to the People's Channel after breaking three Guinness World Records, Joshua and George Kohler told GB News that their bond is "as strong as it'll ever be" after completing the challenge.
George, 57, and son Joshua, 23, have raised more than £50,000 for Unicef following their 400-day cycle across the globe.
Reflecting on the challenge, Joshua told GB News that he is "very grateful" for the quality time he has had with his dad as a result of the fundraiser.
He told GB News: "We argued pretty much every day, but when you're spending this much time with one other person, especially when it's your dad and he's the only other person you see, it's a pretty intense environment anyway.
"But we always made sure we went to bed on good terms. We got through it together, and our bond now is as strong as it will ever be, and I'm very, very grateful for this time I've been able to spend with dad."
Joshua revealed that he was inspired to take on the challenge after being visited at his school by an explorer, who had taken on a similar trek across the world.
He recalled: "When I was still at school, an explorer came to talk to us and he had cycled across the US and written a book. I went home, bought the book, read the book, and thought, well, that sounds like a great idea. Why don't we give that a go?

"So I said the idea to dad and we decided to do it together. The first problem was we didn't have bikes, we weren't cyclists, so we bought the bikes, and the next year we cycled across the USA from New York to San Francisco."
Joshua continued: "And then two years ago, we were twiddling our thumbs and thinking, what can we do next? What's bigger and more impressive than cycling across the US?
"So originally we decided to fly to Singapore and cycle home, but then we thought if we'd just add on a few more continents, we could just go all the way around the world. So that's where the idea came from."
Asked by host Alex Armstrong on which day of the trek was their "toughest", George told GB News that on one of the days, Joshua was "attacked by bees" in the blistering Kyrgyzstan heat.

He said: "I think for us, the toughest day was going over the pass in Kyrgyzstan, two days of uphill climbing, pushing the bike through dirt roads in searing heat, getting to the top and looking forward to a nice downhill at 3500m, only to find it was even worse going downhill so that kind of hit morale a little bit.
"It was made even worse by Joshua getting attacked by bees at the end of the road, so it was all a bit emotional, but we got through it, got our heads down and then reset, and off we went the next day."
The duo told GB News of their overwhelming emotion when crossing the finish line on Saturday, learning they had broken three Guinness World Records.
Joshua said: "It was completely surreal and very emotional, having all of our friends and family who had flown in from all over the world to be there to welcome us home. It was an absolutely incredible day.

"We're so grateful for everyone to coming and welcoming us back home. The legs are feeling great, it's weird not waking up this morning and getting on the bike, and I think it's going to take a couple of weeks to get used to that.
"But we're both feeling great and just overwhelmed by the support we've had over the last year."
The global challenge took the pair through more than 30 countries spanning 400 days across Europe, Asia, and South America, including Turkey, China, Vietnam, Australia and Argentina.
After crossing the finish line back home in Norfolk, Guinness World Records adjudicator Joanne Brent presented George and Joshua with the Guinness World Records titles for longest bicycle journey by a father and son, most countries visited in a continuous bicycle journey by a father and son and the fastest bicycle circumnavigation by a father and son.
