Far-right activist sparks outrage with outburst at Indian Prime Minister Modi as he arrives in Australia

Modi touched down in Melbourne on Wednesday night for a third India-Australia Annual Leaders' Summit, which will include bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Footage posted to social media shows far-right protester Hugo Lennon heckling Modi in a foul-mouthed spray as he arrived on a red carpet in a hotel lobby. 'F*** Modi,' he screamed from the floor above, where a large crowd had gathered. 'This is Australia. No more Indians. We don't want any more migration. This country is for Australians.' Several police officers, who were seen standing metres away, quickly intervened and escorted Lennon from the venue. Police confirmed the 22-year-old man was moved on by police without incident. Lennon has been slammed for his disgraceful act by right-wing political commentator 'GoWokeGoBroke'. 'Swearing and screaming isn't going to stop immigration. He's just an attention seeker who embarrasses himself and can't produce an intelligent argument.' He is also the grandson of Tony Lennon, the multi-millionaire ex-chairman of one of Australia's largest real estate development companies, Peet Limited. Earlier, Modi was warmly greeted on the tarmac by Housing Minister Clare O'Neil, Victoria Premier Jacinta Allan and other dignitaries as he touched down in Melbourne, which is home to Australia's largest Indian population. 'This visit will add vigour to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,' he later tweeted. He will meet Albanese and business leaders at the Australia-India Annual Leaders’ Summit on Thursday morning, where he is also expected to meet Governor-General Sam Mostyn. Later, a crowd of 30,000 will attend a 'Melbourne Meets Modi' rally starring the Indian leader and Albanese at Marvel Stadium in Docklands. Tickets to the event sold out 'faster than Taylor Swift', according to organisers. Anti-immigration protesters, including Lennon, plan to disrupt the event. The pair are also expected to hold bilateral talks about increased tertiary study arrangements, information sharing, and naval exercises, as Australia ‘looks more long-term’ at strategic partnerships. The visit will have a backdrop of the long-range missile test by China in the South Pacific, which was launched this week after limited notice from Beijing. It could prompt India and Australia to strengthen their trading ties, given both countries have a strong reliance on China for trade. This is Modi's third official visit to Australia since becoming Prime Minister in 2014. His previous public appearances in Sydney attracted thousands of fans. During a public reception at his last visit in 2023, Albanese hailed Modi as 'the boss' comparing the roaring crowd's energy to a legendary Bruce Springsteen concert.
