By OLIVIA DAY, ASSISTANT NEWS EDITOR, AUSTRALIA Published: 04:53, 2 May 2026 | Updated: 04:53, 2 May 2026 The ex-wife of Dr Reza Adib has been spotted dropping off bags of groceries to his luxury beachfront apartment after he was charged with three counts of rape - as detectives probe whether a 'stupefying' drug was used in the alleged attack.  The Brisbane weight-loss surgeon, 65, was also hit with two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault over an alleged incident involving a woman in her 30s at his Burleigh Heads beachfront apartment on March 30.  Dr Adib shares the luxurious home with former Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who he has been in a relationship with since 2021.  Palaszczuk is currently promoting her new memoir, The Politics of Being Me. She is not accused of any wrongdoing and is reportedly 'stunned' by the charges.  Dr Adib's ex-wife Carol Adib was seen arriving at his $6.25million mansion in Indooroopilly with several bags of groceries about mid-morning on Saturday.  The dermatologist, who shares two children with Dr Adib, was dressed casually in a striped t-shirt and a pair of jeans as she dropped the heavy bags to the door.  She also carried a $600 tote bag from Italian handbag brand Vestirsi.  It comes as police probe whether a stupefying drug was involved in the alleged attack after unidentified substances were seized from the unit, The Australian reports. His lawyer, Dan Rogers from the firm Robertson O'Gorman, said Adib was shocked by the allegations and taking the matter very seriously. 'Like all persons accused of a crime, he is presumed to be innocent and intends to vigorously defend the charges,' Mr Rogers said in a statement. 'Right now, Dr Adib is primarily concerned about the welfare of his family and his patients and he will do whatever it takes to ensure that they are looked after in the coming weeks.' Dr Adib was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.  The Burleigh apartment was raided just hours before Palaszczuk flew back to the Gold Coast from Sydney, where she had been promoting her book on Thursday.  The dermatologist also carried a $600 tote bag from Italian handbag brand Vestirsi She was seen unpacking several heavy bags of groceries from the boot of her car She then made her way to the door When asked about the investigation during an appearance at the Robina Library later that evening, she replied: 'I'm not aware of any of that, so I can't comment'. The former premier wrote in her memoir that she felt 'blessed' to share her life with Dr Adib, his two children and dog, Winton. 'We're very happy,' Palaszczuk told the Daily Mail during an interview on Wednesday.  Dr Adib, a general and laparoscopic surgeon, began his career at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1994 and established the Brisbane Obesity Clinic in 2004. Brisbane Obesity Clinic's website boasts Dr Adib has performed more than 20,000 operations and 5,000 weight-loss procedures. The surgeon also owns a three-level, five-bedroom, five-bathroom riverfront mansion in Indooroopilly that he bought for $6.25million more than a decade ago. His ex-wife, Carol Dib, is a Brisbane dermatologist with consulting rooms at Wesley Hospital in Auchenflower, according to her website.  She has particular expertise in rashes, consults on skin cancers and their management, along with conditions of the hair and nails.
