By DAN BARKER FOR THE SCOTTISH DAILY MAIL Published: 00:03, 7 April 2026 | Updated: 00:03, 7 April 2026 It is an iconic opening, familiar to a generation of children and parents – Miss Hoolie waving in front of her green cottage in Balamory. So it is no wonder Julie Wilson Nimmo was overcome with emotion as she shot the scene for the show’s relaunch more than two decades after it ended. The 53-year-old told the Radio Times she became ‘really emotional’ while filming the opening scene in Tobermory, Mull, for the Balamory reboot. Julie Wilson Nimmo makes return as Balamory favourite Miss Hoolie The 53-year-old first appeared as Miss Hoolie in 2004, two years after the show first aired Ms Wilson Nimmo, who was 29 and a new mother to her then seven-month-old son Benny when the segment first filmed, told the magazine: ‘I was worried about being old and feeling old, but then I got a good talking to from one of the producers, who said, “that’s the end of that”.’ It turned out to be an extremely useful pep talk – the actress, who is married to Still Game star Greg Hemphill, admitted: ‘Balamory totally changed my life.’ The CBeebies classic, which first aired in 2002 and ended after four series in 2005, is set to return to television screens later this month.
