England call up Ben White and Harvey Barnes for pre-World Cup friendlies

• White has not played for England since 2022

• Scotland were hopeful of picking winger Barnes

Arsenal’s Ben White and Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes have been added to the England squad for the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

The pair will replace Eberechi Eze and Jarell Quansah, who have been ruled out of the internationals through injury. Barnes made his only appearance for the senior team in October 2020, while White has four caps to his name.
