The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated August 21. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
Jimmy King (Nick Miles) was found sitting beside a number of family gravestones in Emmerdale today, which is a bit of a worrying sign amid the rumours he’s getting killed off.
The character, who has been in the ITV soap since 2004, is currently experiencing problems with money.
He hasn’t told wife Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) about pressure he’s under, because he doesn’t want to destroy her dream of sending son Elliot (Luca Hoyle) to university.
In today’s episode, Jimmy took himself off to the churchyard to sit among the gravestones belonging to a number of former Kings.
He was found by Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who joked that it looks as though Jimmy wants to be in the coffin with his dad Thomas.
Bit on the nose, but okay.
Jimmy revealed to Charity that he’s thinking about selling the haulage firm, the company that has been in his family for years and years.
He couldn’t decide which path to take. If he gave the haulage firm to the Miligans, he’d have enough money to support his family, but he felt that he’d be letting his late father and brothers down. However, if he didn’t sell, Jimmy knew it would end up having an impact on Nicola and his children.
Given the abundance of drama happening in Charity’s life right now, it was pretty surprising that she was the one who gave Jimmy some advice and helped him see things a lot clearer.
She pointed out that a legacy doesn’t have to be about what is left behind, it should be about the people and how Jimmy made them feel.
Charity said that if Jimmy’s decision is the right one for his family and he isn’t hurting anyone in the process, then he should go for it.
Sitting near the gravestones of his family members definitely didn’t do much to calm the speculation that Jimmy’s death is looming. Pondering over his future, he looked around the place reflecting on those he had lost.
Whether it was simply a poignant moment or something far more sinister remains to be seen.
Will Jimmy’s name be added to that row of lost Kings soon enough?
