Electric car drivers to benefit from huge nationwide discount on EV charging this summer

Electric car drivers are set to see major benefits when charging in public this summer as one of the UK's largest operators announced a huge new offer.

Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has confirmed a 25 per cent summer price cut for thousands of drivers across the UK at its network of ultra-rapid chargers.

The offer, which extends to the entire MFG EV Power network, will run from July 1 until September 30, 2026 and help drivers save when charging their EVs.

Drivers can charge at any MFG EV Power site for just 59p per kWh, a 20p saving per kWh, helping drivers save around £6 on a typical charge.

This will make MFG one of the cheapest providers of ultra-rapid public EV charging across the country as millions plan to embark on trips across the summer.

Motorists heading around the country can make use of over 2,000 MFG EV Power charging bays across almost 600 locations.

MFG offers ultra-rapid chargers that can deliver power at 150kW, 300kW and up to 400kW, which can provide quick enough speeds to add 100 miles of charge in just 10 minutes.

The charging operator said drivers could make use of the cheaper costs for any reason, whether that's travelling to the coast on holiday or commuting over the summer.

Martin Symes, EV Director at Motor Fuel Group, said: "This summer price drop is our commitment to British EV drivers.

"We are putting you first, cutting our ultra-rapid charging rate to just 59p/kWh so that your summer journeys are cheaper, greener and hassle-free.

"With thousands of chargers across the UK and now one of the lowest rapid-charging prices in the country, there has never been a smarter time to go electric - now powered for less by MFG."

With convenience being one of the biggest sticking points for drivers, MFG has installed EV chargers at almost 300 Morrisons supermarkets around the UK.

The ultra-rapid chargers can also be seen at retail sites and restaurants, including Greggs, Pret A Manger, Burger King, Subway and Costa.

MFG, which is the UK's largest independent forecourt operator, said it would invest more than £400million into its electric vehicle charging network.

The brand's 2030 targets include a goal to install more than 3,000 ultra-rapid 150kW and 300kW chargers across its network.

Drivers looking to charge their EVs will also save time by not requiring a subscription or connection charge, while also being able to pay using contactless or through the MFG app.
