hayati önem taşıdığını belirtti. Orta Doğu’da savaş sonucu artan enerji maliyetlerinin, Avrupa'nın fosil yakıtlara ve enerji ithalatına olan bağımlılığını azaltması için bir "uyarı" niteliğinde olması gerektiğini vurgulayan Lagarde, Avrupa’nın enerji güvenliği ve ekonomik istikrarı için yenilenebilir enerji yatırımlarının hızlandırılması çağrısı yaptı. Lagarde, Avrupa’nın enerji ihtiyacının yaklaşık yüzde 60’ını ithal ettiğini ve bu ithalatın neredeyse tamamının fosil yakıtlardan oluştuğunu hatırlatarak, "Mevcut durum açıkça sürdürülemez. Bugün yükselen enerji fiyatları, bu bağımlılığın maliyetini bize bir kez daha hatırlatıyor." diye konuştu. İran ile yaşanan savaşın küresel piyasalarda petrol ve doğal gaz fiyatlarını hızla tırmandırdığına dikkati çeken Lagarde, ECB analizlerinin bu şokun etkilerini açıkça ortaya koyduğunu ifade etti. Lagarde, söz konusu analizlere göre, elektrik üretiminde fosil dışı kaynakların payı yüksek olan İspanya ve Portekiz gibi ülkelerin gaz fiyatlarındaki artışa karşı diğer üye ülkelere oranla daha iyi korunmuş durumda olduğunu söyledi. İklim değişikliğinin para politikası üzerindeki doğrudan etkilerine değinen Lagarde, aşırı hava olaylarının tarımsal üretimi bozarak gıda fiyatlarını yukarı çektiğini belirtti.
